The former queen of France, executed by guillotine in 1793, continues to receive letters at addresses associated with her life, according to a report this week. The correspondence, addressed to a woman dead for more than two centuries, arrives from members of the public who write to her for reasons that vary. Some offer comfort. Some ask for advice. Some simply wish to be heard by someone in no position to interrupt. The letters are collected and preserved, and none have been answered.
Among the items recovered was a love letter signed by Brothcast Journal correspondent Kevin Dunnehey. Informed of the discovery, the editorial staff observed that he had truly made her lose her head, and asked whether he intended to follow her example. Dunnehey has been assigned to file his next three submissions in iambic pentameter. He maintains that the connection was real.
