A Seoul court sentenced former president Yoon Suk Yeol to 30 years in prison on Friday for ordering military drones over Pyongyang in October 2024, which prosecutors said was designed to fabricate the conditions for declaring martial law two months later. Yoon, already serving a separate life sentence for insurrection, denied wrongdoing. His lawyers argued the operation was a proportionate response to North Korea sending balloons filled with rubbish across the border.

According to sources Brothcast Journal considers highly unreliable, several of those balloons landed directly in the garden of Yoon's private residence, at which point the former president was heard to exclaim 씨발, which translates loosely from Korean as "oh for f***k's sake!"

The court disagreed with the defense. Yoon can appeal.
