Washington has suspended a $14 billion arms sale to Taiwan. The official reason is the need to preserve resources for the conflict with Iran.
The unofficial reason, according to analysts, is that Trump just came back from Beijing with a baseball cap and a trade deal.
Taiwan said it understands the situation and is currently Googling “how to build an F-16 at home.”
China declared the move demonstrates “American strategic maturity.” It is the first time Beijing has used the words “maturity” and “American” in the same sentence without adding a question mark.
